A classroom journey to Antarctica

In February 2027, I will be travelling to Antarctica’s Ross Sea, a region closely connected with the expeditions of Captain Robert Falcon Scott and Sir Ernest Shackleton. I’m inviting schools to be part of the journey, with their own school flag travelling with me.

Use the voyage to spark questions about penguins, sea ice, scientific research and the people who explored this extraordinary environment. Planned visits to historic sites, including Scott’s Hut, will depend on weather, ice and operational conditions.

What your school receives

  • A flag printed with your school logo and carried on the Ross Sea voyage.
  • A digital photograph of your flag in Antarctica for classroom use.
  • Your signed flag returned to school, accompanied by a personal letter.
  • Expedition updates exploring Antarctic wildlife, science and polar history.
  • An opportunity for pupils to submit questions.
  • An invitation to a shared live classroom link up, subject to connectivity and expedition operations. If a live connection is not possible, a recorded question and answer update will be provided.

How it works

  1. Register your school. Provide your contact, delivery and billing details, along with your school logo. You can email the logo later if needed.
  2. Receive your invoice. We will review your registration and send a £150 invoice, including UK return postage, with an online payment link. Include a purchase order number if your school needs one.
  3. Confirm your place. Your flag will be arranged for printing after payment is received.
  4. Follow the voyage. Share the updates with your class, submit questions and look out for your flag’s Antarctic photograph.
