The next chapter

Two poles. A new perspective.

Dr Antony Jinman reached the Geographic North Pole in 2010 and completed a solo journey across Antarctica to the South Pole in 2013–14. His next ambition is an attempt on Mount Everest in spring 2029.

Road to Everest follows the work behind that ambition: rebuilding mountain skills, developing altitude experience and turning the lessons along the way into something others can use.

The preparation

Built one stage at a time.

Each expedition has a purpose: strengthen practical skills, build experience at altitude and assess readiness for the next step.

  1. September 2026Completed

    Alpine technical training

Training in the Chamonix area, including Tête Blanche and Le Trident des Dorées, to refresh and develop mountain skills.

  2. 3–21 January 2027Booked · Next expedition

    Aconcagua, Argentina

The next milestone: a return to sustained high-altitude expedition climbing and a chance to evaluate preparation, fitness and recovery.

  3. 31 October–25 November 2027Planned · Proposed departure

    Three Peaks, Nepal

Lobuche East (6,119m), Pokalde (5,806m) and Island Peak (6,189m), with a visit to Everest Base Camp. A programme to build Himalayan climbing experience and time at altitude.

  4. Spring 2028Planned · Dates to be confirmed

    Mera Peak & Baruntse, Nepal

Mera Peak (6,476m) as an acclimatisation climb ahead of Baruntse (7,129m), developing experience for the next stage of the journey.

  5. Autumn 2028Provisional

    Cho Oyu

A proposed step into 8,000-metre climbing, subject to progress through the earlier expeditions and expedition arrangements.

  6. Spring 2029The goal

    Mount Everest

The ambition is an Everest attempt, informed by the skills, experience and readiness developed throughout the programme.

UK and Alpine training will continue between expeditions. This is a working plan: later stages remain subject to readiness, funding, access and conditions.

Purpose beyond the summit

Legacy is the transfer of experience.

Antony’s expeditions have always been about sharing the journey. Between 2010 and 2020, Education Through Expeditions and its ambassador programme engaged with around 1,000 schools in the UK and internationally, connecting exploration with science, learning and aspiration.

Road to Everest carries that purpose forward through storytelling, speaking and educational engagement—sharing the preparation, setbacks, decisions and discoveries as well as the milestones.

Experience becomes valuable when someone else can use it.
