Network Rail Competition
Network Rail and ETE Live Learning have an exciting opportunity for schools in South Wales to help promote engineering as an exciting future career.
Employees of Network Rail are busy posting video, photos and blogs via www.ETELivelearning.org so that pupils can ask them questions about what it is like to pursue a career as an engineer. We aim to bring engineering to life and raise aspirations whilst "Making it Real"
We are inviting schools from across the region to take part in this exciting new project and have an exciting competition to launch this project;
We are looking for the best art work that shows the safety differences between Electric Railway Lines and standard lines.
Rail routes are currently being electrified to make journeys faster, greener and more reliable. Railway electrification reduces carbon emissions and makes quieter trains (less noise pollution). However, railway electricity is very powerful and can be dangerous to people in the community if they take risks or are unaware of the dangers.
To take part in the competition you have to draw a poster detailing any safety differences you can think of between electrified and standard lines!
The posters will be sent to Jane Austin at Network Rail by the 20th June 2016 for judging by Network Rail, GWR and Ariva Trains with the top 10 being invited to Newport station on the 29th June for presentation of a prize for the winning posters which will be permanently displayed at Newport Station.
